Cable’s Roofing is always interested in connecting with experienced professionals who may be a strong fit for our team. While we are not actively filling this position at this time, we are keeping our options open for an experienced Production Manager for our Tyler, Texas office.
This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production of roofing projects from scheduling through completion. The Production Manager works closely with Project Managers, crews, suppliers, sales, and office staff to make sure jobs are properly prepared, completed efficiently, and closed out accurately.
The right person will be organized, proactive, accountable, and comfortable managing both people and moving parts. Strong communication and follow-through are extremely important in this role.
Responsibilities
- Production Oversight – Manage the scheduling, preparation, execution, and completion of roofing projects.
- Manage Project Managers and Field Staff – Set expectations, follow up on performance, address issues quickly, and hold team members accountable for completing assigned responsibilities.
- Scheduling – Maintain an efficient production schedule and make sure Project Managers, crews, materials, and equipment are coordinated before each job.
- Job Readiness – Review upcoming projects to confirm scopes, measurements, material orders, special instructions, permits, and other job requirements are complete before production begins.
- Crew Coordination – Assign crews appropriately based on project size, complexity, and scheduling needs.
- Material Management – Coordinate material orders, deliveries, shortages, returns, and credits while helping reduce waste and unnecessary costs.
- Quality Control – Ensure company workmanship standards, job-site expectations, and documentation requirements are followed.
- Problem Solving – Respond quickly to field issues, scheduling conflicts, material shortages, customer concerns, weather delays, and other production challenges.
- Job Closeout – Make sure completed jobs are properly documented, reconciled, and submitted to Accounting in a timely manner.
- Profitability – Help protect job margins by monitoring labor, materials, waste, supplements, change orders, and additional billable work.
- Communication – Maintain clear communication between Sales, Production, Accounting, crews, and customers throughout the project.
- Continuous Improvement – Identify recurring production issues and improve systems, processes, and accountability within the department.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in roofing, construction, or production management strongly preferred
- Experience managing field employees, Project Managers, subcontractors, or crews
- Strong leadership and accountability skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple active projects at one time
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
- Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a professional working relationship
- Comfortable using construction software, CRM systems, scheduling tools, and mobile apps
- Roofing knowledge, including materials, installation practices, measurements, and job-site operations, is a major plus
- Experience with AccuLynx, CompanyCam, or similar construction software is a plus
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
